This series of articles will look at some of the best camera phones available on Amazon for under £1,000 and compare them to cameras of a similar price to let you decide if the camera on your phone is good enough. In this article, we will compare the Nikon Z50 camera and the Samsung Galaxy S21.

Nikon Z50

The Nikon Z50 is a great option for a first camera for any photography beginners. But it also makes a great product for those more experienced photographers who are looking for a small, compact camera with outstanding image quality. Nikon has done a great job designing the camera as it has an incredible variety of features while still being sold at a reasonable price. When discussing the features of the camera, the autofocus and low-light performance really stand out. The Z50 can compete with far more complex cameras in these departments, at a far lower price.

In terms of some of the more detailed specs of the camera, it has an FTZ adapter which allows it to be compatible with any DX or FX full-frame lens, an X bead six-image processor meaning that it can record 4k and full HD videos, and a 3.2-inch rear monitor that tilts 180 degrees under the camera for selfie monitoring. The camera also comes with a switch that allows the user to change between stills mode and video mode, with the function settings in each mode saving so that you can switch back and forth with ease.

As mentioned the camera has the capability to operate with various lenses attached giving the user flexibility to use the camera as they desire. However, the camera also comes with two kit lenses (worth about £250!) which give beginners a great opportunity to experiment using various lenses and learning the differences. These lenses provide benefits such as autofocus, vibration reduction, and digital stabilisation.

Overall, the camera is a great small option, mainly for photography beginners, that will assist users in producing high-quality images at the touch of a button. This camera is an excellent option for your first photoshoot.

Samsung Galaxy S21

Released in January 2021, the Samsung Galaxy S21 is one of the most advanced mobile phones available on the market. Partly due to the new features that its camera has to offer. The smartphone is equipped with a 64-megapixel telephoto lens that allows high-quality images to be taken in a variety of different modes to suit the users’ requirements. One of these modes being ‘pro mode’, a mode designed with individual settings to allow the user to select their exact requirements to capture images in their desired format.

For video capture, the camera has functions that allow the user to capture 8k quality videos at 24 frames per second, an exceptionally high number for a smartphone. Furthermore, it has been proven to be able to shoot 4k resolution at 60 frames per second giving users the ability to shoot great natural-looking home movies with crisp audio pickup.

The phone features 3 lenses and allows the user to shoot with all simultaneously and lastly swap around to the front 10-megapixel selfie cam making it an extremely dependable video device.

Despite some reviews claiming this phone fails to match the camera of the iPhone 12, we believe that it is an extremely good option for those looking to take high-quality everyday photos with their phone. It has various modes to utilise, it is easy to use, extremely impressive zoom capabilities, and great video resolution. However, the main question is, is it better to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S21 better or the Nikon Z50???
