The Canon EOS 70D is one of the more affordable DSLR cameras available on the market that can still compete with much more expensive and advanced equipment. Phone brands are constant competing with each other to try and convince consumers that their products are the best for taking photographs with. Technological advancements in the past 2 decades have benefitted phone manufacturers massively as they can now include a high-quality camera built-in to their phones. However, is this camera at the level of a DSLR camera? Well, we are about to compare and find out.

The iPhone 12 launched in 2020 with Apple stating that the smartphone featured the best camera out of all their models so far. Notably, the iPhone 12 has a dual-camera function and can shoot up to 4K video up to 60 frames per second. The iPhone 12 comes with a 1.6 aperture lens which allows for up to 27% more light than previous iPhone models. This phone comes with new features such as night mode and deep fusion which again further the user’s photography experience at the touch of a button.

The obvious advantage that this iPhone will have in any argument against a DSLR camera is the ease to carry and the speed in which you can take photos. It is ideal to have waiting in your pocket for any spur of the moment shots or moments that you wish to capture.

The iPhone 12 is one of the best smartphones on the market and its camera capabilities are very impressive for being a phone. But in terms of pure photographic ability, the clean winner of this battle has to be the Canon EOS 70D.  Although £799 may seem expensive for beginners or photography amateurs, the price is very much an investment.  A piece of equipment such as the Canon EOS 70D will not only improve the user’s photography experience but also allow them to take high quality photos that will last a lifetime.
