Instagram is a great platform for photographers as it allows them to share their work in a casual environment. We love seeing photographers sharing their photos and we believe that it can inspire others to take up photography. Therefore, we have made a list featuring 7 of our favourite photographers who use Instagram. We hope that you give them a follow! (but first, make sure you are following our account here!)
1. Chris Burkard
Starting off our list is an American photographer who currently has over 3.5 million followers on Instagram. His work varies but recently his uploads have consisted of insane captures that he has taken while travelling to some of the most interesting places on the planet. Burkard is someone who I have followed for a few years now and his work never fails to impress and inspire me. Along with posting incredible photos, Burkard also hosts workshops where he provides tips and inspiration to other aspiring photographers. If you love seeing amazing photos then you simply must follow Chris Burkard.
2. Gina Danza
Gina Danza (or @wildginaa), is an American photographer and storyteller from New Jersey. Her work primarily revolves around nature, and she works with a variety of clients who operate in the outdoor equipment industry. Danza is worth following as she shares lots of her incredible art while providing the thought process behind some of her pieces. Danza beautifully captures and shows the ‘behind-the-scenes’ life of a photographer, along with showing how you can support photographers from home.
3. James Nachtwey
James Nachtwey is a photojournalist from New York who takes many incredibly powerful photographs of wars, conflicts, and social upheaval. His work is extremely moving, and he shares the backstory of many of his images when sharing them on his Instagram page. Nachtwey’s work shows the true power of photography, by stirring emotion and bringing attention to topics that are avoided by many in the photography world. By following James Nachtwey, you will not only witness amazing photography but you will also be educated on extremely important matters from around the world.
4. Madeline Lu
Our first non-American representative on this list comes in the form of Chinese-born photographer, Madeline Lu. Lu is an exceptional photographer and her work on Instagram primarily revolves around her travel experiences. She has travelled and stayed at some truly beautiful locations, many of which are located around Europe. For those who enjoy travelling photography or those looking for inspiration of where to travel next, Madeline Lu is definitely worth following. Lu also has a website where she shares travel blogs and recommendations.
5. David Jensen
Next on our list is Norwegian photographer David Jensen. Jensen (@jensenmedia) captures the stunning views of Norway exceptionally, and we love the passion that he has for his own country. One thing that we really like about Jensen’s Instagram page is that he often posts ‘behind-the-scenes’ stories showing the camera, equipment, and set up that he uses when out on a photoshoot. Jensen also has a website where he shares his work and background to his photography career.
6. Autumn Schrock
Based in Seattle, WA, Autumn Schrock (@autpops) is a photographer, blogger, yoga instructor, and more. To be more specific, Schrock is a self-proclaimed astrophotographer and by following her Instagram you will be treated to regular posts of her work capturing the night sky. Schrock even has weekly ‘Happy Moonday’ posts which we think are extremely creative. These posts all feature a unique image that Schrock has managed to capture of the moon- usually with fantastic scenery below. Finally, as mentioned above, Autumn Schrock also produces blogs and yoga classes for those wanting to expand their horizons by photography.
7. Julien Fabro
Last but not least on our list is French photographer and YouTuber, Julien Fabro. Fabro shares content on almost a daily basis with most being based around his adventurous lifestyle. Fabro also often shares details of the camera that he is currently using so that his followers can have an idea of the level of equipment they would need to achieve similar end products. In a post from April 2021, Fabro stated that he has been using the Canon R5 and even went as far as calling it his ‘dream camera’.
