Sometimes all a photographer needs is a bit of inspiration. If the usual Instagram stuff isn’t doing it for you, here are 4 sites for photography inspiration that should help you out.

National Geographic

A great website and magazine for photography inspiration is National Geographic. This website has lots of life, wildlife and travel content that is sure to interest photographers. There are a number of engaging blog articles mixed with high quality photography. To get started, here is a great article about why ‘lake bagging’ is trending.

If you’re interested in wildlife and nature photography, our very own Ross has written a wonderful article here that gives great advice on how to capture stunning photos when visiting The Great Outdoors.

Vogue

Vogue is a beauty, lifestyle and culture website and magazine. Vogue magazine is a great way to keep up with the latest fashion and art trends and to see some truly unique and chic clothes and photos. Have a read of this article by Bella Mackie on the struggle of being jealous of those who get to go on holiday during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If fashion is your interest, here is an article that I wrote very recently about female photographers to follow on Instagram. The list features some fantastic fashion photographers that will give you plenty of inspiration.

Pinterest

Pinterest is an image sharing platform where users can ‘pin’ content that interests them. Pinterest provides content that is quick to scan and easy to digest. There are always popular photography related themes so you will never be short of inspiration. Here is a great example of the type of creative content you can see on Pinterest.

500px

500px is a photography community where you can join photo competitions and win prizes. One of the big advantages of 500px over Instagram is that the images are not compressed. This means you don’t need to worry about uploading in a certain aspect ratio and jumping through hoops to maintain image quality – Just upload your photo as is and it will look great. It also means that everyone else’s images look super sharp and crystal clear so it is easy to fall in love with the photos here. To see the latest popular images on 500px, click here.

Before using 500px, you’ll want to make sure you have the best equipment available to take those quality photos. Here is an article that will help you find the perfect lens if you own a Sony e-mount camera. Alternatively, if you are looking for a camera then here’s the perfect article to find one for less than £500.
